Child Cruelty including Causing or allowing death or serious physical harm to a child

If you are being investigated for behaviour towards you own children, you should contact us. S1 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 makes it an offence for someone with responsibility for a child to “wilfully assault, ill-treat, neglect or abandon” that child “in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury to health”. S5 of the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004 makes it an offence to cause or allow the death of a child or serious physical harm to happen to a child under 16.
